Welcome to Learning to Serve. To this point you have begun to develop the basics of your Christian life learned in the First Steps course. You have also discovered how the Holy Spirit lives in you to help you experience life to the full outlined in the Life in the Spirit course. You are now going to examine what you have been created in Christ to do to make a positive difference in your world.
Transformed living requires dramatic change in the way you view your relationship to others. Following the example of Jesus and his teachings, you learn to live not to be served, but to serve others. A believer who is not serving will not feel complete or fulfilled. It is necessary to give out what you receive from the Lord to make room to take more in to keep you refreshed and ready for service.
Through Learning to Serve you will develop a practical understanding of true ministry which includes serving the church body and the world. You will be introduced to the concepts of servanthood, stewardship, and being gifted and equipped to minister effectively.
How far do you want to go in your spiritual growth and development? I pray that the desire of your heart is to be transformed daily by God to be all that he knows you can be and to do all that he has planned for you to do. May this course help shape your philosophy of ministry for Christ by learning to serve as Jesus did and would if he were in your place.
